The Ninilchik Fishery
Located in the historic village of Ninilchik — roughly an hour south of Soldotna — this small coastal stream produces one of the most reliable hatchery King Salmon returns on the lower peninsula. When fall rains arrive, it transforms into a premier Steelhead destination.
Because the Kings are largely hatchery-origin (clipped adipose fin), the fishery frequently stays open even when wild King regulations on the Kenai trigger emergency closures. A critical backup fishery for our guests during conservation orders.
Hatchery Kings Stay Open
Hatchery Kings on the Ninilchik are often harvestable even during Kenai wild King emergency orders — making it a critical alternative.
World-Class Fall Steelhead
September and October bring chrome-bright Steelhead into the Ninilchik — often overlooked, always explosive.
Historic Ninilchik Village
Russian Orthodox church on the bluff, commercial fishing harbor, and the best halibut beach launches on the inlet.
