Everything you need to know about purchasing your Alaska sport fishing license before your Kenai Peninsula trip. All anglers 16 and older must be licensed.

King Salmon stamp required when targeting King Salmon in open waters (e.g., Kasilof, Ninilchik). Not required if Kenai River is your only destination in 2026 due to closure.

King Salmon Stamp
Required to target King Salmon anywhere in Alaska. Not required in 2026 on the Kenai River (Kings are closed), but needed for Kasilof, Ninilchik, and coastal fisheries.

Charter Halibut Stamp
Required if taking a guided charter halibut trip in Southcentral Alaska (Homer, Seward). Most charter operators manage this stamp purchase for you — confirm when booking.

Harvest Record Card
Free. Required for species with annual limits (King Salmon, Halibut). Available online or at any license vendor. You must record harvest immediately.

Who Needs a License
- • AK residents age 18–59: annual license required ($29)
- • AK residents under 18: no license required
- • AK residents 60+: free license available
- • All AK residents dipnetting: must have a valid sport fishing license + free UCI Personal Use permit

- • Fred Meyer, Carr's, and sporting goods stores throughout the Kenai Peninsula
- • Most guided trips: your guide can direct you to a nearby vendor
- • Important: Purchase BEFORE your trip — guides cannot issue licenses on the water
