Meet Your Guide
Meet Ian McDonald — The Guide Behind Kenai Fishing
Ian didn't plan to become Alaska's most-reviewed salmon guide. He came to the Kenai Peninsula for one summer and never left. Fifteen seasons later, he's logged over 3,000 guided trips, witnessed hundreds of first-time anglers land their dream fish, and built a reputation that brings clients back year after year — some of them on their 10th annual trip.
The Philosophy
"I've put a lot of people on their first fish. And the ones who come back aren't coming back for the salmon — they're coming back for the river. The Kenai does something to people. I've seen it happen thousands of times."
Ian's approach is guided by two principles: put clients on fish honestly, and leave the river better than you found it. Every trip includes conservation education. Every rainbow trout goes back in the water.
