Kenai River Fishing Report — What Our Guides Found This Week
We're on the water 6 days a week from May through October. This is our unfiltered guide report — no tourism-board spin, just what's actually happening on the Kenai River right now.
Second run is building strong. Sonar counts at Kenai doubled from last week — this is the week to be on the water. Lower river between river mile 5 and 15 is absolutely stacked. Limits achievable in 3 hours.
Late run kings are starting to show. Numbers are below the 10-year average but fish size is excellent — we put a client on a 52-pounder Wednesday. Upper Kenai canyon is producing. King stamp required.
Post-spawn trout are feeding aggressively on fresh sockeye eggs drifting downstream. We're seeing fish 22–28 inches in the mid-river sections. Water temp is ideal at 48°F. Best trout fishing we've had in July in years.
